I have been planning a trip to California for this weekend for a few weeks now. For any of you who know my husband know that he hates spending money and avoids it at all costs. He has a amazing talent at budgeting......or should I say more like a hobby:) He has graphs and charts that can show us how much money we spent in groceries or gas in 2006 compared to now. A few of my girlfriends even called him after they got married to teach them his skill:) After begging and begging he finally agreed to the vacation. We started looking for hotels last night and planning the trip which was our first mistake. We shouldn't of waited so long to book a hotel because they were all crazy expensive. After finding a hotel and pricing everything out it ended up costing us almost $400....It had taken us almost 3 hours to even get to this point. At that very moment I looked at Mark and noticed his usual "what are we doing" face. I started thinking about just cancelling it all together because the thought of spending that much money for 3 days in Cali was making me sick too. Before I opened my mouth to say something the most brilliant idea hit me!!!! I look at Mark and say, "I'll cancel the trip if you make a deal with me right now and shake on it!" His eyes get all big and he gets all excited because I am even considering not spending all of this money. So then I say, "If you give me $100 to go shopping and let us go to breakfast Monday morning we can cancel the trip right now." I am thinking how genius I am for even coming up with this plan while I explain how much money I am going to save him. Without even thinking Mark shakes on it and says, "For that we can go out to breakfast twice!!" I get all excited thinking I pulled one over on him because in normal circumstances the answer to the shopping spree would of been, "well we can see how much money is left after we budget" or "you look great, you don't need anymore clothes" and then it hits me....I could of asked for $200 and he probably still would of agreed, I started too low!! So I mention this and he says that we had already shook on it!! Then I say $150 and he says $125 LOL some how Mark still won in this
scenario BUT at least I will have some nice new clothes to show for it! Love you sweets!

how funny! but heck, $100 shopping spree aint bad! can't wait to see what you get.
ps: does he offer classes teaching his skills?! i could totally use that!
I"m totally going to try that! That's hilarious!
Your husband loves you so much and it is completely evident. He has a hard time saying no to you and I admire him for sticking to his guns when the situation calls for it. I think the times he does say no is also another way for him to show his love because he wants to make sure that your family's future is secure. He is responsible but even more so he is keeping his family's best interests a priority. It takes a loving and devoted parent and partner to secure a happy and prosperous future for his/her family by making wise choices. You are very blessed! Good for you to not pressure him into taking a trip. Your spark of insight was no mistake as you took to heart what he was going through. All our husbands want for us is to be happy and it is our job is learn how to be happy with less things and just more love. I hope that those two breakfast outings will be filled with lots of smiles and happy times.
-Believe me...Jake is going to be all over Mark's spreadsheet system when we get home.
WAHOO!!! I want to come... lol! Sounds like a great deal to me... love it!!
Too funny! Only you would sale yourself short! I need to get some of those budget skills from Mark! I can't wait to see you next month!

Hahaha! Seriously, you two crack me up!! New clothes though are always a great time!
haha that is too funny! I wish we were good at budgeting! You asked where I got my swim suit! Its a modbe suit but i borrowed it from my sister because she wore it when she was nursing too. shade has amazing suits though. ones that arent V-neck which is what you are probably looking for. they are awesome. Layers has some pretty cute ones too. good luck finding one for you :)
oops in case you dont have the websites they are shadeclothng.com and layersclothing.com.
That was a great story!!! I think you both really did win in the end... You get new clothes and he gets piece of mind knowing that the majority of the money is still in the bank! Happy Shopping! :)
you crack me up. I'm glad you have Mark to keep you from spending money. What a good husband.
haha that is funny. cody is the same way only i'll start at 150 and he talks me down to 75 but then every dollar that i go over, i owe him something big. you are hilarious though. have fun!!
You are a genius!
Oh!! This reminds me of when we went with you both to Cali almost 3 years ago and how HORRIFIED Mark was when he got gas and the machine at the pump didn't print him a receipt.... Oh good times!!
This is Kylan. I love Mark.
P.S. $100 at Last Chance could go a long way. Have fun.
